Transformational nurse leaders have the power to influence and shape the culture of their organization. As a nurse leader, I understand the importance of continuing education and development in the nursing profession. In this essay, I will discuss the professional nursing organizations I am interested in, the nursing certifications or continuing education I plan to pursue in the future, the TEACH values I believe would benefit my work environment, and the actions I could take as a transformational leader to incorporate these values.
One professional nursing organization that I am interested in joining is the American Nurses Association (ANA). The ANA is the largest professional nursing organization in the United States, and its mission is to promote the health and well-being of nurses and advance the nursing profession. I am also interested in joining the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), which aims to improve the health of Hispanic communities and increase the representation of Hispanic nurses in the nursing profession.
In terms of nursing certifications or continuing education, I plan to pursue a master’s degree in nursing education. This degree will enable me to enhance my skills as a nurse educator and make a positive impact on the nursing profession. I am also interested in obtaining certification in nurse leadership, which will equip me with the skills and knowledge necessary to become an effective transformational nurse leader.
Regarding the TEACH values discussed in the lesson, I believe that the value of Accountability would most benefit my work environment if adopted. Accountability is the act of taking responsibility for one’s actions and decisions, and it is an essential quality for any leader. By adopting this value, my work environment would become more transparent and responsible, which would foster a culture of trust and respect among team members.
