This discussion focuses on the organizational structure of your focal agency. The organizational structure refers to how tasks, responsibilities, and authority are formally divided among workers. All organizations are systems of people who interact to accomplish the work activities of the organization and thus its goals and purposes.
This discussion is intended to help you understand how the overall structure and processes of your focal agency relate to practice. Be sure to provide your classmates with enough information to spark discussion. Be sure to maintain the discussion threads. Be sure to relate ideas you are reading from the course texts to your agency’s structure and processes so that you can relate theory to practice.
Identify an agency in your home/work community which will be your focal agency for the course. Be sure to indicate why you have chosen this agency. Then in a paragraph or two, briefly explain its organizational structure and processes.
In the discussion you should:
Compare and contrast your findings with those of your classmates;
Summarize what you learned about your agency’s organizational structure and processes.
Post your initial comment. This comment must be 2-3 short paragraphs and you must cite the course readings. Then enter the discussion area at least 2 more times to comment, if appropriate, on what others have said during the discussion week. Comments should be more than solely “I agree” and the like.
