Overview:
This paper will be the final cultivation of your research journey. You will present an argument within a state-level topic of your choosing. You will then defend your argument using the sources you have found through your research methods all semester. This paper will be graded on the quality of rhetoric/logic demonstrated and the use of source
5 pages in MLA or APA. The Works Cited does not count towards the page count.
Topic: The Affects Social Media Has on Society
You should be writing on the state-level topic that you chose earlier in the semester.
Research:
This IS a research paper. Use a minimum of 5 credible, scholarly sources from the annotated bibliography assignment you submitted. You must include correctly cited in-text citations and a Works Cited page.
Plagiarism:
Your essay will be automatically submitted to TurnItIn to check for plagiarism. Plagiarized essays will earn a grade of 0. Please review the plagiarism policy as stated in the course syllabus.
Length:
The essay must be 5 total pages minimum, no more than 10 pages.
Format:
Use MLA or APA format for title, heading, citations, and the works cited page. Your works cited page must be included but does NOT count as part of the 5-page minimum.
Please follow my technical writing requirements. I will deduct points for each requirement not met.
Word Choice:
Use a formal tone. Avoid using, slang, informal language, and contractions. Include persuasive words such as should/should not, must, will, can, need to, etc.
No second person (you, your) pronouns.
First-person pronouns (I, we, me) are allowed and encouraged in this essay but should be used carefully. Avoid “softener phrases” that might weaken your argument (e.g., “I feel,” “I think,” “I believe”). Ideally, first-person pronouns should be used to appeal to ethos and to guide readers through your reasoning.
