Overview:
The past couple of years have proven extremely difficult for hospitality companies to recruit and retain employees. For this assignment, students will create a Recruitment Plan aimed at encouraging high-quality applicants to apply for a job and ultimately be selected for the open positions.
Instructions: Read the following scenario and provide answers to the following questions as part of your recruitment plan.
Scenario: You have recently accepted the role of Front Office Manager for ABC Hospitality Company, a luxury hotel company (located in whichever city you choose). There have been issues with filling positions for front desk agents and concierge positions. You are currently short 3 full-time front desk agents and 1 full-time concierge position. This lack of staffing is causing delays with check-ins and check-outs, as well as long wait times to speak to a concierge agent. Guests have been complaining about these issues and your current employees are frustrated with being understaffed, causing them to work overtime. Your first priority is to get your department back to being fully staffed.
Answer the following questions as part of your recruitment plan:

– Explain why it is important for hospitality companies to be proactive when it comes to recruiting. (10 points)
– List at least 3 benefits/factors that are attractive to prospective employees (i.e., compensation, work/life balance, career opportunities) and explain how companies can promote these items when recruiting employees. Support your answers with at least 1 source. (10 points)
– What will your first step be in terms of assessing the need for staffing and creating a plan for filling these open positions? (10 points)
– What recruitment methods and tools will you use to search for potential employees and fill these positions? (10 points)
– What are some potential challenges that you may face when recruiting employees (i.e., competition from other employers, lack of applicants applying for positions, etc.)? How can you prepare for these challenges? (20 points)
– How will you assess the effectiveness of your recruitment efforts (i.e. what are some methods you can use to determine effectiveness)? (10 points)
