HOW TO WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT (EXAMPLE ESSAY / DRAFT)

Introduction

The world has experienced various events over the past year, which have shaped global politics, economics, and society. In this essay, we will analyze the impact of the media on a current event, aligning with one of the four issues covered in our textbook, which include ownership of mass media businesses, sports, media violence, and privacy. The purpose of this essay is to identify the key ideas of the event, explore how the media shaped the event/story, how others reacted to the way it was portrayed in the media, and whether others created movements based on the way the media portrayed the event, whether people reacted differently in other parts of the world, and how the event was shaped by various information systems.

The media is a powerful tool that can influence people’s opinions, perceptions, and actions, and this is why we need to understand its impact on a current event. By analyzing the media’s role in shaping the event, we can gain insights into how it can be used to create positive change and prevent negative consequences.

Body

The event we have chosen to analyze is the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected almost every aspect of human life across the globe. This event aligns with the issue of privacy, as it involves tracking the movement and health status of individuals in order to control the spread of the virus.

The media has played a crucial role in shaping the narrative of the COVID-19 pandemic. From the initial outbreak in Wuhan, China, the media has reported on the spread of the virus and the measures taken by governments to control it. The media has provided real-time updates on the number of cases, deaths, and recoveries, as well as the development of vaccines and treatments. The coverage of the pandemic has been intense, with news outlets around the world dedicating significant airtime and column inches to the story.

The way the media portrayed the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on how people around the world have reacted to it. In some countries, the media’s reporting has resulted in people taking the virus more seriously, and adhering to measures such as wearing masks, social distancing, and staying at home. In other countries, the media’s reporting has been met with skepticism, and people have been less willing to take the virus seriously.

The media’s reporting on the COVID-19 pandemic has also led to the creation of movements aimed at promoting public health and safety. In some countries, healthcare workers have been celebrated as heroes, with people organizing events to thank them for their hard work. In other countries, anti-lockdown protests have been organized, with people taking to the streets to demand an end to the measures taken to control the spread of the virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people differently in different parts of the world. In some countries, the virus has had a devastating impact, with high numbers of cases and deaths. In other countries, the impact has been less severe, and the measures taken to control the spread of the virus have been less restrictive.

The event has been shaped by various information systems, including social media, online news outlets, and government websites. Social media has played a significant role in spreading information about the virus, with people sharing news articles, videos, and personal experiences. Online news outlets have provided detailed coverage of the pandemic, and government websites have provided information on the measures taken to control the spread of the virus.
