HOW TO WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT (EXAMPLE ESSAY / DRAFT)

As a healthcare professional, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with a physical therapist on a patient’s care plan. The patient was a middle-aged woman who had undergone knee surgery and required rehabilitation to regain her mobility.

In terms of differences and similarities between nursing and physical therapy professions, I noticed that both professions have a patient-centered approach to care. However, physical therapists focus on the patient’s physical abilities and mobility while nurses consider the patient’s overall health and well-being. I valued the physical therapist’s expertise in creating a personalized rehabilitation plan for the patient, which complemented the nursing care plan.

During the collaboration, cooperation was achieved by establishing a shared goal and by recognizing and respecting each other’s expertise. Compromise was needed when developing a schedule for the patient’s rehabilitation, as we had to take into consideration the patient’s daily routines and availability.

Effective communication was crucial to the success of the collaborative experience. We maintained open communication channels, discussed our respective observations and concerns, and addressed any issues in a timely and respectful manner.

Collaboration can lead to person-centered care by promoting a holistic approach to care that takes into account the patient’s physical, emotional, and social needs. By working together, healthcare professionals can provide more comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of a patient’s health.

Collaboration can also impact safety and quality care by promoting interprofessional teamwork and reducing errors. When healthcare professionals work together, they can identify and address potential safety issues and provide more coordinated care, leading to better outcomes for the patient.

In conclusion, a collaboration between healthcare professionals can enhance patient care and promote safety and quality. Effective communication, cooperation, and recognition of each other’s expertise are essential to successful collaborative experiences.
