HOW TO WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT (EXAMPLE ESSAY / DRAFT)
In building a virtual law office, there are several key considerations that must be taken into account. Here are my responses to the questions posed:
- Will you use cloud computing, and if so, do you know which one? If not, why not?
Yes, our virtual law office will use cloud computing as it offers significant advantages in terms of accessibility, cost, and collaboration. We have chosen to use Microsoft’s OneDrive as our cloud computing solution as it is highly secure, reliable, and offers a wide range of features that will meet our needs.
- How will you meet with clients and collaborate with each other? If virtually, which conferencing tool(s) might you try?
We will meet with clients and collaborate with each other using a variety of virtual tools. For video conferencing, we will use Zoom, which has become the standard for remote meetings. We will also use Microsoft Teams for instant messaging, file sharing, and project management.
- Who will you contact for any technology-related issues? How will you acquire any needed technology trainings?
For any technology-related issues, we will contact our IT consultant who has extensive experience in providing technical support to small businesses. We will acquire any needed technology training through a combination of online courses, tutorials, and webinars.
- Describe steps you will take to safeguard client information.
To safeguard client information, we will implement a variety of measures including: using strong passwords, two-factor authentication, encryption, firewalls, anti-virus software, and secure file sharing. We will also limit access to confidential information to authorized personnel only.
- How long will you keep / store emails? Documents? How did you decide?
We will keep and store emails and documents for a period of seven years, as this is the standard recommended by legal and regulatory authorities. We arrived at this decision based on industry best practices and legal requirements.
- What other type of Office Management or Case Organization and Management software will you want for your firm?
In addition to Microsoft Teams, we will use a legal practice management software called Clio that will help us manage our cases, calendars, documents, time-tracking, billing, and client communications.
- Which e-discovery tools will you use for your office?
For e-discovery, we will use Relativity, which is a powerful e-discovery software that offers advanced analytics, document review, and project management tools.
- Which litigation software will you use?
For litigation management, we will use LexisNexis, which is a comprehensive legal research and litigation support tool that offers access to a vast database of case law, statutes, and regulations.
