ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

The assignment is to make a PowerPoint which the title is: “Assessment of the Abdomen”. This Powerpoint should have 20 slides and I want it to have photos and content.
The PowerPoint must expose the steps in order of the abdomen assessment, the definition of each one of these steps, and photos of how each one is performed. The slides may also include examples of pathological findings in each of the assessment steps.
It is known that the abdomen is divided into nine quadrants. Therefore, I would like to expose the most frequent diseases located in each one of the nine quadrants. For example: If I am examining a patient with pain in the right hypochondrium (upper right quadrant) what pathologies or diseases can we suspect with the pain located in that area? Also, I want to include photos and definitions of the following pathologies: Cirrhosis, Bulge, Ascites, Abdominal Hernia, and Mc Burney’s Point.

HOW TO WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT (EXAMPLE ESSAY / DRAFT)

Introduction: The assessment of the abdomen is an important part of a physical examination that helps healthcare professionals to identify and diagnose various pathologies. This PowerPoint presentation aims to provide a comprehensive guide to the assessment of the abdomen, including the steps involved, definitions of each step, photos to demonstrate how each step is performed, and examples of pathological findings.

Assessment of the Abdomen: The assessment of the abdomen typically involves the following steps:

  1. Inspection: This involves visual examination of the abdomen for any signs of abnormality, such as asymmetry, bulges, or scars.
  2. Auscultation: This involves listening to the bowel sounds using a stethoscope to identify any abnormal sounds that could indicate a pathology.
  3. Percussion: This involves tapping on the abdomen to assess the presence of fluid or air in the abdomen.
  4. Palpation: This involves using the hands to feel for any masses, tenderness, or abnormal structures in the abdomen.

In each of these steps, we will provide detailed definitions, photos, and examples of pathological findings.

Abdominal Quadrants: The abdomen is divided into nine quadrants, and each quadrant is associated with specific organs and structures. We will discuss the most frequent diseases located in each quadrant and provide examples of pathologies that could cause pain in that area.

Pathologies: We will also provide detailed definitions, photos, and examples of the following pathologies:

  1. Cirrhosis: A chronic liver disease that leads to scarring of the liver and impaired liver function.
  2. Bulge: A protrusion of an organ or tissue through a weakened area in the abdominal wall.
  3. Ascites: The accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity that could be a sign of liver disease or cancer.
  4. Abdominal Hernia: A bulge or protrusion of an organ or tissue through a weakened area in the abdominal wall.
  5. McBurney’s Point: A specific point in the abdomen that is used to locate the appendix during an examination.

Conclusion: The assessment of the abdomen is a crucial part of a physical examination, and this PowerPoint presentation provides a comprehensive guide to the steps involved, definitions, photos, and examples of pathologies. By understanding the assessment of the abdomen, healthcare professionals can identify and diagnose various pathologies and provide appropriate treatment.
