(1) Democratic and Un-Democratic Features of the Constitution
(a) Review the linked copy of the US Constitution ratified by the states in 1788. For now, pay no attention to any of the amendments.
(b) Find and identify one democratic and one undemocratic feature of the system of government described in it. BE SPECIFIC. Quote the specific part of the text that describes the feature upon which you have chosen to focus.
(c) Explain why you chose it? What makes the identified feature democratic or undemocratic?
(2) On balance, do you think the Constitution of 1787 democratic or undemocratic? Why?
(3) What about the Constitution of 1791 after the addition of the first 10 amendments (the Bill of Rights): democratic or undemocratic? Why?
(4) Cite relevant passages in the textbook or elsewhere in support of your choices.
